
This course introduces students to the foundational concepts and methodologies in literary theory and criticism, equipping students with the tools to critically engage with texts from multiple perspectives.. It is designed to familiarize students with key schools of thought, including Psychoanalysis, Marxism, Feminism, and Postcolonialism.
Students will explore how these critical approaches shed light on the relationship between literature and broader cultural, psychological, social, and political contexts. Through the works of influential thinkers such as Sigmund Freud, Melanie Klein, Karl Marx, Judith Butler, and Edward Said, students will learn to apply theoretical concepts to literary texts and develop deeper interpretations.
By the end of the course, students will have acquired essential analytical skills and the confidence to approach literature from multiple critical perspectives.
