The Didactics module is an exploratory course offered in the fourth semester, designed to introduce students to the fundamental principles and practices underlying the teaching of core school subjects. With a focus on both theoretical foundations and practical applications, the course aims to deepen students’ understanding of how subject-specific knowledge is effectively transformed into teachable content.

This module provides a comprehensive overview of didactics as a field concerned with the methods, strategies, and processes of teaching and learning. It explores how different disciplines—particularly languages and mathematics—require distinct pedagogical approaches that reflect their epistemological nature and learning objectives.

A significant component of the course is devoted to language didactics, where students examine contemporary instructional approaches such as the communicative approach and task-based learning. Emphasis is placed on developing strategies for enhancing the four key language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, in addition to fostering global comprehension abilities.

The course also addresses the role of education in promoting moral and civic values, highlighting the importance of integrating ethical and social dimensions into classroom practice.

In the area of mathematics didactics, the module introduces students to the teaching of mathematics as a form of logical and structured thinking. It covers essential topics such as algebraic operations, geometric concepts, problem-solving strategies, and the development of mathematical skills, with a focus on learner-centered and competency-based approaches.

By the end of the course, students are expected to develop an informed awareness of the specific characteristics and challenges associated with teaching different subjects. They will be able to critically reflect on instructional practices and select appropriate strategies that align with learners’ needs and disciplinary requirements.

The module is assessed through continuous evaluation, including guided activities and coursework, as well as a final examination.
