This course provides an introduction to the fundamental concepts, types, and processes of translation. It explores key principles and techniques used in translating between languages, with particular focus on Arabic–English and French–English translation. Students will examine translation units, methods, and strategies, as well as the challenges of rendering meaning across linguistic and cultural contexts. The course also covers the translation of different text genres (literary and specialized texts) and the handling of tense and aspect. Practical exercises are included to develop students’ translation competence and critical evaluation skills.
